What we do not collect
Your name, email, phone number, address, location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. The app never asks for access to any of them.
Your account
The first time you play online, the app creates a guest account. There is no sign-up screen. The account holds:
- a randomly generated account id, which contains nothing that identifies you;
- a hash of the secret key stored on your phone (the key itself never leaves your phone);
- the nickname you choose;
- your chip balance, a hidden skill rating and how many hands you have played.
Google and Apple sign-in
Signing in is optional; it lets your chips and stats follow you to a new phone. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we check the sign-in with them and keep only the fixed account identifier they give us. We do not ask for, or keep, your email, name or picture.
Game data
For each finished hand we record the result, which table it was played at and the chips that moved. Chip movements go into an append-only ledger, so any dispute can be answered with what happened.
The leaderboard is public: other players see your nickname, rank and results. If you would rather not be recognised, pick a nickname that says nothing about you.
Table chat
Messages you type at the table stay on the server for 30 days and are then deleted. We keep them for one reason, reports: if someone reports a message, it and the conversation around it stay until the report is resolved. Your block list is stored with your account and deleted with it.
Technical data
Like any internet server, ours sees your IP address when your phone connects. We use it to prevent abuse, never for advertising or profiling.
Ads
| Who | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | The ads in the app: an interstitial between games, and reward videos you choose to watch | Your phone's advertising ID and device information. In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and some US states we first ask, using Google's consent message; you can refuse personalised ads and the game works the same. |
You can also reset or turn off the advertising ID in your phone's settings. How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Purchases
The app sells nothing today, chips included. If it ever offers a purchase (a table skin, for example), Google Play or the App Store handles the payment from start to end; we receive only a purchase verification token and never see your card details.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent or share data for marketing. It lives only with the providers that run the game (server hosting and backups) and the Google services listed above.
This website
mahjongorchid.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The tai calculator works inside your browser and never sends your hand to our server. The pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data as long as the account exists. You can delete the account at once in the app under Settings → Delete account; without your phone, email support@mahjongorchid.com. The steps: Delete your account. A deletion cannot be undone, and your chips go with it.
Age
The game is meant for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. In-game chips have no real-world value and cannot be exchanged for money; this is not gambling.
Changes
If we update this policy we change the date at the top of this page, and we say so in the app if the change is significant.
